Page Plus Cellular Subscribers Enjoy Increased LTE Speeds

Unofficial sources have mentioned that some TracFone-based Verizon MVNOs are currently enjoying increased LTE speeds. Reports said that they have been able to enjoy higher LTE speeds compared to the ones that they are originally restricted to. This includes Page Plus Cellular subscribers, a prepaid Verizon Wireless mobile virtual network operator operated by the TracFone Wireless, Inc. Other Verizon MVNOs, Straight Talk and Total Wireless, have been reporting the speed increase as well. They said that speeds are completely unthrottled now.

Over the past few weeks, the news has been circulating that users of TracFone based Verizon MVNOs have been experiencing speed increase from the restricted 5Mbps download and 2 Mbps download. The rumor comes from the forum, mentioned that people suddenly getting much faster speeds. Subscribers of Page Plus Cellular report that they receive following text from Page Plus (71098):

The link has been shortened, which redirects user into the page under the domain extras.pagepluscellular.com. Inside the page, the notified subscribers are asked to "scratch" on the Scratch Here button to see their network improvement. However, the change has not yet been posted on the homepage of Page Plus Cellular.

There is no official press release to confirm whether the speed caps have been totally lifted or if the speed caps are still in place although the speed just being faster now.

The story begins with the meeting of Larry Page and Sergey Brin, the founders of Google, at Stanford in the summer of 1995. The story goes that September 27th is the date when Google Doodle was first used to highlight its birthday back in 2002. Google has admitted to confusion over its birthday in 2013. There are four different dates that have been used since, but September 27 is the officially recognized birthday of Google.

Verizon.net Email Address Will No Longer Available; What Do You Need to Do?

If you use verizon.net email address, you need to shift to Verizon-owned AOL now. Around 2.3 million of active users of verizon.net email account holders will lose their emails, calendars, and contacts if they do not take the necessary steps, the company says.

Verizon has announced that they are going to close down their email business. In their statement, Verizon said that "there are more capable email platforms out there". Their decision to get out of the email business is to focus their resources in providing the internet and TV services. Beginning in February 2017, Verizon continues to notify their customers over several weeks. Customers of the verizon.net email address is given two options to handle their email going forward, either by keeping the verizon.net email address or using other email provider. If you choose to keep their verizon.net email adress, then the account will be moved into AOL Mail. The verizon.net email will be moved to AOL at no charge.

You can also opt for the second option to find another email service such as Gmail  and Yahoo Mail. However, they have to move their email manually. The current verizon.net email address will remain active until the effective date of stopping the email service. Verizon suggested that customers visit support pages of the selected provider to receiver further instructions.

If you decide to take no action, then they will be no longer able to access their emails and contacts. If you have received the notification, then you need to move their email address under 30 days from the notification date. Earlier, Verizon have also deleted the verizon.net email accounts that are inactive for 180 days. In their corporate website, Verizon said that by doing so they reduce the consumption of electricity and storage loads to maintain the email server. However, customers must wait to receive the notification to switch. The link, as the company spokesman Raymond McConville said, is not generic and personal to each customer. The last notifications email switch are planned for June 2017.
